40 Acts of Love in 40 Days

On August 14th, which is only 40 days away, the little girl pictured here will be turning 40! I had some nervous jitters several months back as I anticipated this milestone. But as it gets closer, what I feel most is gratitude, so I want to do something special to give thanks for the incredible blessings I have in my life.

I think the seed of what I decided to do was planted during a road trip I took in my Shamanic Studies program. In one particular exercise, we were told to ask for what we wanted to receive in front of the whole group, and it was surprisingly difficult for most of us to ask for what we truly wanted and also to allow ourselves to receive it energetically from the group.

During that exercise, someone I respect and admire greatly asked to be gifted an open heart. I was really struck by that––by both his wisdom in asking for that gift and his ability to be open about it. Sometime after that, asking Spirit and my allies to help me open my heart more and more each day became part of my personal prayers.

So, that’s my wish for this coming decade: to have a more open, loving, kind and courageous heart. When I was originally thinking of what to do to celebrate 40, I considered sky-diving and a variety of other fun ideas––some of which I may still do. But after doing 21 days of dancing during Alchemy’s Spring challenge, I had the idea to take on a 40-day challenge. And suddenly, the words “40 Acts of Love in 40 Days” came to mind and I got super excited.

I don’t know what all I will do in these 40 days, but I plan to do at least one act each day that is done out of love, gratitude, and kindness. I am going to begin today by writing a letter to my brother telling him how much I love him and how blessed I feel to have him in my life. I am sure other letters of love and gratitude will follow.

As I’ve thought of this 40-day challenge, I’ve had some other ideas, such as doing shamanic healing for the land where I live, putting money in parking meters outside my office, placing happiness and healing quotes for people to find on their windshield and other random places.

I’m excited to carry out these acts, but I don’t yet have 40 days worth of ideas. So, if any ideas come to mind as you read this or if you would like to join me in doing this challenge, please let me know by commenting below or contacting me at parminder@alchemyofpresence.com. Much love and gratitude to you all.
